Some quotes can just show a concept...not to take too thoroughly

Hello,

" While we're spending a very valuable time together, I would like to attempt searching the profound roots of your true and strongest potentials. Once reaching some acceptable level of achieving this goal, you will choose which assets we can capitalize on."

Read a fascinating article on what can be seen as the "center" of  people live's mission in this world. I could not find a more inspiring insight to give this kind of purpose in my coaching sessions.

A Great Story:

"An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends  of a pole, which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water, at the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full..." - read the rest here

Did you know that the Chinese character meaning "crisis" consists of two words, one signifying danger and the other opportunity? What can that mean to those of us in the Western world who have lived through both without recognizing either? A crisis is uncharted territory so to speak, as new and threatening as the New World must have seemed to the early European explorers. Although it has absolutely nothing at all to do with the earth being flat, this crisis can be overwhelming to the person experiencing it. It usually occurs at the exact moment when a man or woman realizes that life has a beginning, a middle and an end, and that somewhere midway he or she is terminally caught. This often forces a serious review of life as seen through the eyes of a person who may now need glasses and other middle age accessories...

Some Quotes:
Bill Gates "Let's say tomorrow we could decide that everyone in India is as rich as we are. Would the world be a better place? Certainly. Would the U.S thrive more because of the great products and work that would be done over there? Absolutely. The world getting richer is a great thing. It has been a great thing. It will continue to be." - Bill Gates
Anthony Hopkins " Life isn't worth living if I miss an episode"  - Anthony Hopkins

Hi Everyone,

2008 comes to an end and this is the time to reflect on the past year and move on to the next! For fast growing companies, leaders and entrepreneurs the ride this year has been intense and from this end, a fascinating one.

Most of you who started a new company and obtained the trust of valuable investors, the challenge was on execution. For Entrepreneurs who own a business for over 20 years and start thinking about legacy and building value, a generic theme for 2008 was "organization" and "operational processes".

Executives and CEO's of  Telecom, New Media, IP and New Energy companies we had the pleasure and pride to coach this year, a common denominator was "consensus" and stretch to reach the "unreasonable" to make a difference in the market. In the non-high tech segment of our clients (Hospitality, Health Care, Art, and professionals), there was indeed an achievement in building high-performing teams.

Change is constant. So too, is the search for better, more effective ways to create and sustain changes. Coping with a corporate or community culture, individual and team behavioral, sustained cognitive and emotion transformation is on the table for 2008.

On this note, this issue of FIRE WIRE offers an article on Unreasonable Sales Performance - how to get on a fast track to build reserves of victories.

Cheers to a new year and another opportunity to get it right for you, tailored to your needs, making you peaceful, healthy and accomplished!

Happy Holiday Season to all,

High Performance sales, be unreasonable!

The "Sales" job is like a competition. Using your skills to win a market share, go beyond the imaginable to close a deal. Making the historic one and move on to the next! What is the energy behind it? If we're talking about the traditional sales cycle in high-tech for example, that means lots of hours and proactive initiatives. Creativity in building up argumentation and tactics. Constant control of your emotions to remain balanced when you get rejected or misjudged by your management or your colleagues. The list goes on and on.
What can change this infernal paradigm? Is there room for fun? What is driving me? Do I like what I do? Do I trust in my product? Is money my only goal to invest all my energy in this?

What really extends your ability to make big things happen is asking for things that are "unreasonable." First to yourself, and then to your sales executives. What is unreasonable? Asking people for things you have no right to expect from them, which under ordinary circumstances, you would expect them to say, "no." But asking anyway. Not to mention that when you do this to yourself, you create room for procastination! I don't have to go that far. Why should I? What for?
The trick is to expect yourself and them to say yes, and not worry about whether you or they do or don't.
Create a game in your business. The game is for everyone to continually be unreasonable in what is expected from each other. And not just internally -- externally as well. Include all your stakeholders in this game. (You choose whether or not to tell them about it the game.) Do you think this game could rocket your project forward?
Keeping your requests humble is a wise strategy if you are "traditional", but it limits your bottom line.
Is the action in your business or your own growth moved forward in direct proportion to the size of your requests, so to move things along quickly, you have to ask big? I think so. Especially in our days. By doing so, you create a fantastic positive energy. You trust in yourself. You stretch each muscle that you can find to push the momentum to full speed. In other words, you are unreasonable, disproportional and whatever you were going to ask yourself or your team for, ask for more!
In each aspect of your action planning, when your mind is into sales and winning it, you make your request larger, bigger, outrageouser and you become the UNREASONABLE one.

Coaching in this exercise will address among other things:

· Clarity in sales objectives into over-ambitious goals
· Refine existing strategies or simply drop them for the unknown
· Focus in innovative sales skills
· Discuss specific challenges for individuals or an entire sales team within the new paradigm
· Eliminate unrealistic barriers and myths getting seriously on the way
· Prioritize activities into revenue generating obsessions
· Remove the roadblocks to success
· Build the confidence to win
· Eliminate procrastination
· Define what is fun for you and the ones you're working with
· Be constantly pleasant to others, even in times of intense crisis
· Learn advanced rapport building secrets
· Learn the power of language
Let's get wild and moving...

Three times in the same month clients brought up Tiger as a role model for mental discipline. The truth is that Tiger got it at the top! I don't know if the man is wiser than the average performer, he just keeps focused. To nothing like it!

1. Tiger Sets Very High Personal Standards And Holds Himself Accountable.
Many tour pros set goals of trying to win a certain number of events per year. Some set a goal of winning a particular event. Tiger sets a goal of trying to win every event he enters. He truly believes he has a chance to win each time he steps out to play. When he falls short of a personal goal or objective, Tiger blames no one or anything other than himself. He takes full responsibility for his successes or failures.
2. Tiger's Major Mental Tool Is His Unrelenting Mental Discipline.
Tiger knows how to focus his mind on command. He does this in practice and that here-and-now skill carries over to competition. He intuitively sees how demanding continually sharp focus relates directly to performance. He maintains personal rituals before playing and practicing, and before each shot he takes. He uses these routines as triggers to explode his energies and focus onto what he is about to do.

3. Tiger Builds His Confidence By Endless And Intense Practice.
Tiger knows that practice does not make perfect. Tiger uses the "over-kill method" when practicing. He repeats perfect swings until he burns them into his mind and body. Then, even under the most intense tournament pressure, those swings hold up. That's how confidence is built, one practice swing at a time.
4. Tiger Does NOT Keep His Eye On The Goal.
Instead, he focuses on the process. It is a myth that, in a competition, great athletes focus on the goal of winning. To be sure, winning is a goal, but it is a given. No focus need go onto that goal. What excellent performers focus on is process. Tiger is superb at keeping his mind in the here and now. As he does that, with his well-honed practice habits underneath everything, he allows the golf process to unfold in the moment.

Can you manage your mental game like Tiger Woods ? If not like him, is there anything here you can take along for the ride?

October and November  adtech New York Hilton 3-6 This year, our coverage of this event extends from last year with interviews of Laura Marriott  President of the Mobile Marketing Association and SY Lau EVP Online Media of Tencent to address the current trends and fast paced developments of the Industry. Leadership challenges have been identified even more since interactive tools are available to executives and decision makers right at their finger-tips. The Mobile phone - or PDA wireless device is the media no one can ignore. Convenient with the right user interface and a reliable content.
Wireless Influencers conference on November 5th, organized by Rutberg and Co. the Investment Banking firm located in LA. If anything this event has been called the most important meeting globally for senior executives in the media, entertainment, and communications industries.

Various interesting sessions, but the biggest buzz was about Google's announcement of the Android mobile device platform and the Open Handset Alliance. Some industry watchers expected a new device, like the Apple iPhone. Instead Google proposed a software environment that would allow any company to create new applications, including Google of course.

The opportunities for debate, conversation, meeting interesting new people and saying hi to old friends were unique. The quality of the sessions and the presence of almost all C-level executives driving the Industry today was impressive and gave me a tremendous amount of resources to coach our Telecom clients and support them with their strategies for 2008 and beyond. Will go next year again!

I have been asked to recommend hotels where I stay when I travel around the US or around the world. I like good hotels, I can't hide this side of me. Probably a mix of hotel management and development background with a taste for true nature and calm.  I would be delighted to see my clients and readers following me to those incredible destinations and take each time the opportunity to set back and meditate, connect to the depths of spirit and soul,  and live the experience of a genuire renaissance for yourself and for your peers (when you come back to work).

The first choice is The Enchantment Resort and Spa in Sedona Arizona   where I stayed last year for 1 night. Its spa Mii Amo is a must. The whole place is phenomenal, a real sanctuary of peace and relaxation.
